Week 2: Deconstruction of DVD Menus

Today we looked at how DVD menus are brought together to make a final product. I have learnt that there is a lot more to how the menus are brought together, as there are various links to different features within the menu. Therefore you have got other menus coming off a main menu, in a normal DVD menu nowadays there is usually 4 options for you to click on within the main menu and these options will take you to other parts of the menu. These 4 options include: Play Movie, Scene Selection, Extra Features and Audio Setup, although, not every DVD menu has these options, as a Documentary DVD which I deconstructed only had two links, being, Play Film and Scene Selection.
The elements within the menus, some of these include: Animation, Still Images, and Clips from the Film, Font, Background, Rollovers (to select an option button) and Music.
Researching and deconstructing the DVD menus has really helped me in knowing what elements I will have to include in my own DVD menu and take into consideration elements such as, images, movie clips, music and animation.
